Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, September 25, 2012 - Montreal Alouettes kick returner Trent Guy was named the CFL Special Teams Player of the Week following his spectacular performance in a 31-10 victory over the Toronto Argonauts at Percival Molson Stadium last Sunday.
Trent Guy - Special Teams Player of the Week
Guy set a club record with his 129-yard missed field goal return in the third quarter as the Alouettes strengthened their hold on first place in the CFL East Division with the win. Montreal (8-4) leads the Toronto (6-6) by four points with six regular season games left for both clubs.
Guy ignited the Alouettes' special teams unit, scoring their first TD of the season in dramatic fashion. The 25-year-old surpassed former Alouettes Tim Maypray and Ezra Landry who each had 125-yard returns for touchdowns back in 2010 and 2005, respectively.
Guy piled up a combined 166 yards on special teams with 31 yards on two kick returns and five yards on four punt returns.
The former Louisville Cardinals standout also recorded his first CFL touchdown on a nine-yard pass from Anthony Calvillo in the second quarter. This marks the first time that Guy receives CFL player of the week honours.
Next game
The Alouettes will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (TSN, RDS, CJAD 800, Sirius 157 & 154 and 98,5 fm).
