Chad Simpson and Henoc Muamba Honoured as Players of the Week

WINNIPEG, MB - Two members of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are being honoured for their play in last week's 34-12 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as both running back Chad Simpson and linebacker Henoc Muamba have been named the CFL's Offensive Player of the Week and Canadian Player of the Week, respectively.
Simpson recorded his first career 100-yard rushing effort after carrying the ball 19 times for 134 yards on the ground. He also added 58 receiving yards on four receptions which gave him a career-high 192 combined yards for the game. This is the first Player of the Week honour for Simpson, who now sits fourth in the league in rushing with 682 yards.
Muamba, last year's first overall pick in the 2011 CFL Draft, has continued to improve every game since taking over the starting middle linebacker job in week eight, and had a breakout game recording five defensive tackles, one pass knockdown and one sack. Muamba also forced one fumble which gives him a league-leading five on the season, putting him one back of the team's single season record of six, held by Daved Benefield. This is Muamba's first Player of the Week honour of his career.
Simpson and Muamba are the sixth and seventh members of the team to be honoured with Player of the Week awards this season. They join Justin Palardy, Joey Elliott, Alex Hall, Demond Washington and Jason Vega as previous recipients so far this season.
