North Little Rock, Arkansas - Robbie Widlansky broke a tie game with a two-run double in the eighth inning to send the Arkansas Travelers to a 5-3 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Friday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. The Travs scored five runs in their last three innings at the plate answering each time the Hooks scored in the series opener.

The victory helps the Travs stay up on the Springfield Cardinals by one game in the North with a 27-25 record and evens their record against the Hooks to 2-2.

The first six innings saw limited scoring as the Travs tallied a run with two outs in the second against Bobby Doran. With no one on base, Travis Witherspoon hit a double and came home when Drew Heid followed with a single.

Doran allowed just the one run on two hits in a five-inning start. He also walked two and struck out four.

Brandon Hynick carried the lead into the sixth inning but issued two walks and left with runners on first and third base with one out. Jonathon Meyer delivered a game-tying sacrifice fly against Nick Maronde. Caleb Graham got out of the inning when Enrique Hernandez flied to right field leaving bases loaded.

Hynick earned a no-decision in a 5.1 inning appearance allowing one run on three walks and three hits while striking out two.

Andrew Robinson relieved in the bottom of the sixth inning and allowed Rolando Gomez to hit a leadoff single. After Jimmy Swift sacrificed Gomez to scoring position, he scored when Taylor Lindsey hit a single for a 2-1 lead.

Still Corpus Christi battled back in the seventh inning with two runs off Elvin Ramirez to take the lead. Drew Muren led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice by Ben Orloff. Max Stassi tied the game with a base hit to center field. Then Goerge Springer doubled to left field moving Stassi to third base. He scored when Domingo Santana's hard grounder was deflected by Kaleb Cowart at third base resulting in a run-scoring error giving the Hooks a 3-2 lead. Ramirez stiffened getting Erik Castro to pop up, then pitched around a walk and struck out Michael Burgess to leave the bases loaded again.

Patruck Urckfitz (L, 2-2) returned for the eighth inning and walked Jimmy Swift. After Lindsey struck out on a bunted third strike, C.J. Cron hit a single to left bringing Widlansky to the plate. He worked a 2-2 count and yanked a fair ball past first base driving in two runs for a 5-3 Travs lead.

Josh Judy worked the ninth inning for his second save allowing just one hit.

Michael Cisco (2-1) earned the win by pitching a scoreless eighth inning.
