
Travs Win Last Night Baseball Game at Ray Winder Field

Ray Winder Field, Little Rock, AR - SS Sean Rodriguez drove in three runs including the game-winner in the ninth inning as the Arkansas Travelers (26-40, 50-86) pulled out a 5-4 victory over the Springfield Cardinals (26-42, 65-71) in the last night game at Ray Winder Field. A two-out single in the ninth by Rodriguez chased 2B Devin Day home with the winning run completing his three-hit night that included a two-run homer (4, 29). 3B Matt Brown also pounded a two-run homer (19) and finished with two hits in his last game of the season. RHP Aaron Pullin (2-0) delivered three no-hit innings out of the bullpen for the win in relief of RHP Rafael Rodriguez. Springfield RHP Jose Garcia (0-1) allowed one run in 2.2 innings to suffer the loss in relief of LHP Eric Haberer.
After Haberer issued a first-inning leadoff walk to LF Aaron Peel, Rodriguez yanked his fourth home run in six games over the left-field wall to give the Travs a 2-0 lead.
Thanks to hard-nosed baserunning, the Travs tallied two more runs in the third inning. After Rodriguez drew a leadoff walk, he barreled into second-base to break up a double play allowing Terry Evans to reach on a fielder's choice. Brown followed with a line-drive home run to centerfield giving the Travs a 4-0 lead.
After being kept at bay over the first three innings by Rodriguez, the Cards erupted in the fourth. RF Nick Stavinoha hit a leadoff single to centerfield and reached second base when Brown bobbled Juan Richardson's fielder's choice for an error. A hard single to left by LF Cody Haerther chased Stavinoha home. Franco followed with a long ball to left bringin home three runs to tie the game, at 4-4.
Haberer and Rodriguez each left after the sixth inning and neither team got a runner to third base over the next two innings until the ninth. Day reached second with a one-out double past third base and advanced to third when Peel bounced to short. On a 3-1 count, Rodriguez hit a fly ball single to right field to bring in the winning run.
Time of game was 2:49 and the paid attendance was 4,544.
With two games remaining at Ray Winder Field hosts a special Saturday afternoon game Saturday against Springfield. The pitching matchup pits Arkansas RHP Chris Hunter (4-13, 7.24 ERA) vs. Springfield RHP Blake Hawksworth (3-2, 3.47 ERA). First pitch will be thrown at 1:00 p.m. and the gates open at 11:30 a.m.
