Travs Shine as North Drops Classic Tilt To South
June 27, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release
Whataburger Field, Corpus Christi, Texas - Although the South outlasted the North in ten innings 5-4, the representatives of the Arkansas Travelers made lasting impressions the 2007 Texas League All-Star Game. Starting second baseman Adam Morrissey hit the only home run for the North squad and was one of just a handful of participants to play in every inning. C Bobby Wilson caught the last six innings of the game and finished 2-for-2 and scored a run. RHP Rich Thompson fired a 1-2-3 third inning and RHP Nick Green allowed a run as he worked the fifth inning. Shortstop Sean Rodriguez starred in the home run derby blasting 14 home runs in the first two round before coming up empty in the finals. Rodriguez also doubled and scored in the top of the tenth inning giving the North a short-lived 4-3 lead before the South tied it on Will Venable's leadoff home run and then won the game when All-Star MVP of the host Hooks scored Casey Benjamin with an RBI single.
