Memphis, Tenn. - Round Rock held off a ninth inning rally from Memphis to win 3-2 Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.

Juan Gutierrez was impressive in his eight innings of work. The right-hander tossed 6.2 no-hit innings before Tagg Bozied lined a single into center field in the seventh inning. The single scored Jolbert Cabrera, who had reached on an error, from second base. Gutierrez finished the night allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with six strikeouts to earn his fourth win of the year.

Round Rock did all the damage in a three-run second inning. Mark Saccomanno, Danny Ardoin and Gutierrez all knocked in runs. Gutierrez had more hits than any other Express player going 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Nick Stavinoha brought the ‘Birds within a run in the ninth with a single but Bozied popped out with the tying run on third base to end the game.

Mike Parisi took the loss for the Redbirds after giving up three runs on seven hits in eight innings. The right-hander struck out two and walked two in his sixth loss of the season. Travis Driskill nailed down his third save for Round Rock.

Memphis will send Mike Smith to the hill tomorrow to face Round Rock's Philip Barzilla. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
