Arkansas Travelers News Release

Friday night before a crowd of 7,696 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, the Frisco RoughRiders evened their three-game series with the Arkansas Travelers, by topping the Travs 9-0.

Facing the 'Riders for a second time in less than a week, Arkansas righty Manny Correa struggled mightily early. Frisco used a four-run opening frame, that included the first five reaching base, to help break the game open. Guilder Rodriguez, Jared Hoying, Brett Nicholas, and Tomas Telis all singled in consecutive fashion in the inning.

Correa proceeded to retire five straight before again finding trouble. Chih-Hsien Chiang laced a double that plated Telis, and then came home after passed ball was followed with a wild pitch. Frisco continued in the inning when Alejandro Selen delivered his first home run on the season.

Meanwhile, Frisco RH Neil Ramirez made easy work of the Arkansas offense. After failing to complete the fourth inning against the Travs last Saturday, Ramirez responded by turning in 5 2/3 innings of two-hit baseball before turning the game over to the bullpen.

From there, the duo of Roman Mendez and Wilmer Font preserved the shutout for Frisco by allowing only a hit over the final 3 1/3 innings.

Frisco tallied two more in the seventh while facing Arkansas southpaw Nick Maronde to add to their already sizable lead.

Taylor Lindsey ended an 0-for-17 start to the season by going 2-for-3 in the game with a double for the Travs.

Tomas Telis led Frisco's ten hit attack by going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.
