Naturals Earn Series Win over RockHounds

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Yordano Ventura gave up three hits while striking out seven batters in five innings as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals defeated the Midland RockHounds 4-1 on Saturday. With the win, the Naturals claim the three-game series after winning the series opener on Friday.

Ventura earns his second Double-A win, with the first coming last season in a seven inning game against Arkansas on August 31 as part of a doubleheader.

The Naturals got on the board in the fifth inning as Juan Graterol reached on a one out walk, then stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error. Graterol scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex McClure. Northwest Arkansas added three more runs in the sixth on a single by Yem Prades and a two-run single by Angel Franco. Franco went two-for-four with two single and two RBI while leading the Texas League with a .448 batting average. Franco currently has a seven-game hitting streak. Rey Navarro singled in the sixth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games, while McClure went one-for-two with a double.

Brooks Pounders replaced Ventura in the sixth and gave up a run on a Jefry Marte double, but worked his way out of jams in the seventh and eighth innings. Nick Rogers pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his first Double-A save.

The Naturals will play the first of a three-game series tomorrow at Frisco with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. J.C. Sulbaran (0-1, 7.70 ERA) will start for the Naturals and will face Carlos Pimentel (1-0, 4.50 ERA).
