Springfield, MO - The Corpus Christi Hooks hung on late for the 3-2 win against the Springfield Cardinals, before 4,769 fans at Hammons Field on Saturday night.

The Cardinals (3-6) got the bats clicking right away, striking for two tallies in the bottom of the first against RHP Jake Buchanan (W, 1-0). After LF Mike O'Neill led off with a walk, SS Jake Lemmerman belted a towering two-run bomb to left field to make it 2-0.

Corpus Christi (7-2) worked it even in the top of the fifth against RHP Boone Whiting. With one away, RF Domingo Santana singled himself aboard. After Santana swiped second base, he moved to third on a base hit by 2B Enrique Hernandez. C Carlos Perez followed with an RBI fielder's choice, plating Santana from third. After a base hit by 1B Erik Castro put runners at the corners, Perez snuck home on a fielder's choice on a delayed double steal, tying the game at 2-2.

The Hooks then moved in front in the top of the sixth inning against LHP Dean Kiekhefer (L, 0-1). With one on and one down, Hernandez reached first base on a fielder's choice. Perez came through with an RBI double to left field, bringing Hernandez around from first to lift the Hooks to the 3-2 advantage.

Springfield got runners in scoring postion in the eighth, and then two more on in the ninth, but the Hooks escaped both frames to close the 3-2 win. RHP Jason Stoffel (S, 3) logged the save for Corpus Christi.
