North Little Rock - Although the Arkansas Travelers were held to only four hits on Friday night against the San Antonio Missions at Dickey-Stephens Park, they found a way to pull off a 3-2 win. The Travs did all their scoring in the bottom of the third inning, but with the help of great pitching from Tyler Chatwood, Steven Geltz and Ismael Carmona it would be all they needed.

After the win over San Antonio the Travs win two-of-three in the series and improve their second half record to 20-27 (46-71 overall), and the Missions drop to 21-26 in the second half (58-59 overall).

Chatwood (4-4) earned the win after throwing six innings, giving up just two runs, one earned, on four hits and six strikeouts. Geltz entered in the seventh and threw two innings giving up no runs on no hits and four strikeouts. Carmona (8) entered in the ninth inning and earned the save. Simon Castro (7-6) started for the Missions and suffered the loss after throwing six innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on four hits.

The Travs took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Tyson Auer led off with a walk, and was followed by a single to right center from Andrew Romine putting runners on second and third. Alexi Amarista laid down a sacrifice bunt, but when Castro threw to first, the ball sailed high and went into the tarp along the wall in foul territory. On the errant throw Romine and Amarista moved to second and third and Auer scored giving the Travs a 1-0 lead. Romine then came into to score on a passed ball that hit Missions catcher Michael Collins in the glove and was called a strike. On the passed ball Amarista moved to third, and he was scored on a sacrifice fly ball to right from Jeremy Moore, increasing the Travs lead to 3-0.

The Missions got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, coming within one run of the Travs. James Darnell led the inning off by reaching on a ground ball error that got passed Abel Nieves at third base. Sawyer Carroll then came up and blasted a two-run home run cutting the Travs' lead to 3-2. After the home run Chatwood got two quick outs, but Quintin Berry kept the inning alive with a two-out single. Blake Tekotte took a walk to put runners on first and second, but Lance Zawadzki flied out to right field to end the inning.

Missions pitching retired the last 12 Travs batters in a row, but Carmona entered in the ninth and closed out the game, keeping the one run lead. The Missions had the tying run reach base in the ninth after James Darnell drew a two-out walk, but Carmona got Carroll to ground to second to end the game.

The time of game was 2:28 and the paid attendance was 6,241.

The Travs return to the field on Saturday against the Corpus Christi Hooks at Dickey-Stephens Park. The Travs will start lefty Michael Anton (5-8, 4.54) against the Hooks starter Jeremy Johnson (4-9, 4.09). The game will start at 7:10 and the gates will open at 6.
