Arkansas Travelers News Release

Tulsa, OK - Three moves were made this morning affecting the roster of the Arkansas Travelers. At the moment the Travs will lose two players and gain only one. RHP Von Stertzbach was released by the Angels and C Tim Duff was sent to class AAA Salt Lake. Replacing Stertzbach in the Travs' bullpen is RHP Jeff Kennard who joins the club in Tulsa from Salt Lake.

Kennard, who made 16 appearances with the Travs last season after a trade from the New York Yankees, pitched in five games out of the bullpen at Salt Lake. He had not recorded a decision and held a 7.04 ERA in 7.2 innings albeit with nine strikeouts. Kennard was 2-0 with a 5.12 ERA with the Travs last season after being dealt for Jose Molina. Kennard is the only current Trav to have a spot on the Angels' 40-Man Roster.

Duff moves up to Salt Lake after former Trav Bobby Wilson tweaked his leg Sunday. Duff played in nine games with the Travs batting .207 with two RBI. 1B Mike Collins will serve as the club's backup catcher in the meantime.

Stertzbach, 26, appeared in four games out of the Arkansas bullpen without a decision. His ERA stood at 6.48, but he had ten strikeouts in 8.1 innings pitched. Stertzbach came to the Travs during the 2005 season and appeared in 44 games. He posted a 3-5 record and 10 saves plus a 5.23 ERA. He missed all of the 2006 season due to elbow injuries and returned to the Travs in the 2006 season.
