Travs Come up a Run Short Against Naturals
July 8, 2023 - Texas League (TL)
Arkansas Travelers News Release
Springdale, AR - The Arkansas Travelers fell to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Saturday night by one run, 4-3. Despite drawing 10 walks, the Travs offense posted only three runs on five hits. All four of the Naturals' runs came in the second inning and proved to be too big of a deficit to overcome. Arkansas drew at least one walk in each of the first eight innings but failed to capitalize scoring just one of those 10 walks on the night. Tanner Kirwer reached base three times including a pair of hits and drove in a run to lead the Arkansas offense.
Moments That Mattered
* Dillan Shrum hit a three-run triple to put the Naturals on the board in the bottom of the second. It appeared to nick off the glove of the racing right fielder.
* In both the third and seventh innings, the Travs had two on with none out only to then hit into a double play.
Notable Travs Performances
* CF Tanner Kirwer: 2-3, BB, RBI
* RHP Collin Kober: 2 IP, K
News and Notes
* Isaiah Gilliam was 1-4 to extend his hitting streak to nine.
* Arkansas was just 1 for 11 hitting with runners in scoring position.
