Frisco RoughRiders News Release

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS - Following an hour-long rain delay, the Arkansas Travelers avoided a three game sweep with a comeback win Saturday night against the Frisco RoughRiders. Arkansas outfielder Kentrail Davis hit a 2-run blast in the eighth inning off Chad Bell, sending the Travs to a 4-2 win.

Arkansas (7-2) jumped on the board in the first inning when Brian Hernandez's two-out double scored Cal Towey to give the Travs a 1-0 lead. Riders starter Jerad Eickhoff struggled with his command, walking three and hitting another in the first two innings. Eickhoff settled in, striking out seven hitters over five innings allowing just the lone run in the first.

The RoughRiders (4-5) struggled to get the big hit all night. They stranded at least one runner in each of the first six innings for a total of eight. The loss marks the fourth consecutive game in which the Riders offense has been limited to two runs. They briefly held a 2-1 lead thanks to a pair of doubles from Royce Bolinger and Jake Skole and a two-out RBI single from Guilder Rodriguez.

Chad Bell entered the game in the sixth inning and struck out the first two hitters he faced before Wade Hinkle belted a solo home run over the right field fence to tie the game. Bell worked a perfect seventh inning but the Travs struck again in the eighth when Kentrail Davis hit a go-ahead two-run bomb. Suddenly the Riders were down to their final three outs trailing 4-2.

Arkansas reliever Austin Wood allowed one hit in three innings after taking over for starter Alan Busenitz, who worked around eight hits over five innings. Closer Trevor Gott recorded his second save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. The win improves the Travs to 7-0 when they score first.

Frisco has a quick turnaround on Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. contest against Northwest Arkansas at Arvest Field. The Riders took two of three from the Naturals last week (April 12-14) at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Victor Payano (0-0, 0.00) looks for his first win while J.C. Sulburon (0-1, 1.80) starts for the Naturals.

The Riders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on April 23 against the Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A, Houston Astros) for the second "Thirsty Thursday" of the season. From 6-8 p.m. fans can enjoy $1 domestic draft beers, $2 import beers, and $1 Dr Pepper products.
