Drillers Roll Past Missions to Clinch Series

San Antonio suffered a lopsided 14-3 loss to Tulsa on a rainy Friday night at Wolff Stadium.
Both teams scored a run in the early innings Friday. Tulsa took a 1-0 lead in the first against San Antonio starter Bryan Rodriguez on Corey Seager's RBI ground out. An inning later, San Antonio evened the score on Luis Domoromo's RBI single into right off Tulsa starter Deck McGuire.
The game remained locked at one until the top of the fourth when Daniel Mayora took Rodriguez's 2-0 pitch over the wall in right center.
Rodriguez (0-2) ran into even more trouble in the top of the fifth, an inning in which the Drillers plated five runs on five hits to pad their lead to 7-1. The right-hander did not record an out in the inning. Seager drove in the first two runs of the frame and now has five RBI in the series.
The fifth-inning explosion was more than enough for McGuire (2-0), who allowed just the one early run on six hits and one walk, while fanning three over seven strong innings.
Tulsa erupted again in the eighth, touching the San Antonio pen for six more, capped by Lars Anderson's three-run homer off reliever Adam Cimber. Anderson finished with a game-high five RBI.
The Missions got one back in their half of the eighth when Casey McElroy scored Trea Turner from third with a single to right.
Brandon Dixon completed the Tulsa scoring in the top of the ninth with an RBI single off Cimber.
Turner drove in the game's final run with a single in the bottom of the ninth off reliever Chris Reed.
San Antonio (3-5) concludes its three-game series with Tulsa (5-3) Saturday, with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM. Elliot Morris (0-0, 0.00) will get the ball for the Missions, while the Drillers counter with fellow righty Jeremy Kehrt (0-1, 6.75). Following the game there will be a fireworks extravaganza courtesy of Autism Community Network. The Missions will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to Autism Community Network.
