Arkansas Travelers News Release

Dickey-Stephens Park, North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers and Tulsa Drillers were suspended in the ninth inning after Tulsa hitting coach Mike Coolbaugh was hit by a line drive in the ninth inning. With the Travs leading 7-3 in the top of the ninth inning, Coolbaugh was coaching first base when Drillers DH Tino Sanchez ripped a line drive that hit Coolbaugh in the head knocking him onto his back unconscious. Coolbaugh was attended to by medical personnel who were on site and taken to Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock after lying motionless on the field for 30 minutes.

Coolbaugh, 35, had joined the Drillers on July 3 in his first coaching job an interim basis after Orlando Merced resigned as the Tulsa hitting coach. He is a 17-year veteran of professional baseball including 44 games of Major League service with the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals.

The game will be resumed during the Drillers' next visit to Arkansas between Thursday, July 26 and Sunday, July 29.
