Missouri River Otters News Release

Drew Omicioli scored two highlight-reel goals as the Danbury Trashers defeated the Missouri River Otters 4-2 Saturday night in front of 3,376 fans at the Family Arena.

The Trashers took an early 1-0 on a power-play goal six minutes into the opening period when Jeff Daw deflected a Kelly Regan shot behind Brenden Cuthbert. Then with one minute left in the first period Drew Omicioli skated through two River Otters players and buried his 40th goal of the season behind Cuthbert. Danbury extended their lead to 4-0 on second-period goals by Omicioli and Alex Goupil with the latter resulting in Cuthbert being taken out of the game in favor of Corey Wogtech. The River Otters got on the board with two minutes left in the second period when Jim Duhart fired home the 492nd goal of his prolific career. Scott Dobben brought the River Otters to within two goals in the final period, but that was as close as they got. Platt made 28 saves in the victory while Cuthbert made 27 saves in defeat.

The River Otters travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Komets Sunday afternoon at the Allen County Coliseum. The puck drops at 4:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM.
