Missouri River Otters News Release

Despite tying the game in the final minute of regulation, the Missouri River Otters suffered a 4-3 shootout defeat at the hands of the Fort Wayne Komets Wednesday night at the Family Arena.

The River Otters struck first when Blake Stewart took a great pass from Lars Pettersen and buried a high wrister above the outstretched glove of Kevin St. Pierre. Fort Wayne knotted the score at one when Josh Tataryn scored on a terrific feed from Andrew Luciuk. The lone goal in the second period was scored on a scintillating wrist shot by Luciuk, his 22nd goal of the season. The Komets extended their lead to 3-1 early in the third period when Kelly Miller scored on a shorthanded breakaway, but the River Otters wouldn't relent. Steve Makway made it a 3-2 game on a phenomenal low shot, and with only eight seconds left in the game Jimmy Callahan tied it up with a dramatic goal off a Makway pass. Tataryn and P.C. Druin scored in the shootout for Fort Wayne while none of the Otters shooters connected and Fort Wayne emerged victorious. St. Pierre made 22 saves in the victory while Corey Wogtech made 29 saves in the shootout loss.

The River Otters host the Kalamazoo Wings Friday night at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Networks, located at www.riverotters.com.
