RiverDogs Defeat River Otters 9-3 In Season Finale

Todd Grant's hat-trick led the Richmond RiverDogs to a 9-3 victory against the Missouri River Otters Saturday night in the season finale at the Family Arena.

Jimmy Callahan made it 1-0 River Otters five minutes into the first period with a power play goal. The RiverDogs responded with a goal of their own eight minutes later on a Bobby Kukulka breakaway to tie the score at one. Then with two minutes left in the opening period Jim Duhart sped up the left wing and beat Mike D'Alessandro top-shelf for the 498th goal of his stellar professional career. Richmond took control of the game with four unanswered goals in the second period, two from Todd Grant and one apiece scored by Dan Vandermeer and Bill Vandermeer. Paul Falco made it 5-3 at the start of the third period, but the RiverDogs scored the next four goals of the game, three into an empty net, two scored by Mike Oliveira, one by Grant for the hat-trick, and one John DiPace. D'Alessandro made 38 saves for the victory while Corey Wogtech made 14 saves in defeat.
