Missouri River Otters News Release

Most Recent Match-Up: Friday, April 7: Missouri 6, Roanoke Valley 5

Jim Duhart registered four points as the Missouri River Otters held on for a 6-5 victory against the Roanoke Valley Vipers at the Roanoke Civic Center. The six goals and 46 shots the River Otters registered were both season highs.

The River Otters got off to a fast start as Scott Dobben and Jim Duhart scored breakaway goals in the first two minutes of the game. Duhart's tally was the 495th of his professional career. Roanoke Valley came right back and tied the game at two on goals by Mark Scott and Michael Wiggins. The final goal of the period was scored on a great move by Paul Falco to put the River Otters up 3-2. Roanoke Valley tied the game shortly after the start of the second period when Chris Affinati snapped a shot between Kevin Reiter's pads. The River Otters dominated the rest of the middle period, as Dobben, Falco, and Lars Pettersen added snipes to put Missouri up 6-3. The Vipers made things interesting with third-period goals from Scott and Sean Starke, but the River Otters held on for the 6-5 victory. Reiter made 22 saves for the victory while Glenn Ridler suffered the defeat.

Closing on 500: After his banner game last night, Jim Duhart is five goals shy of 500 for his prolific career. The Otters have 4 games left in the season for Duhart to try and join the 500 club. He'll need to average a smidge over one goal-per-game during that stretch to reach the milestone. The veteran sniper has scored seven points in two games against Roanoke Valley this season.

Snap Out Of It: The River Otters snapped their league-high five-game road winless streak last night with the victory against Roanoke Valley. They'll look to make it two in a row against the Vipers tonight.

Wiggin' Out: Roanoke Valley forward Michael Wiggins has scored eight goals and nine assists in his last ten games. The skilled forward leads his squad with 34 goals and 64 points this season and has registered six points in two games against Missouri this season.

Otters Next Game: The River Otters host the Fort Wayne Komets this coming Wednesday at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Networks, located at www.riverotters.com.
