April 8, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Motor City Mechanics News Release
MOLINE, IL-One goal was enough as the Quad City Mallards overtake the Mechanics for seventh overall in the UHL playoff race as they win 1-0 tonight at the Mark of the Quads.
Patrick Nadeau scored the lone goal in the game at the 5:29 mark of the second period. That goal would prove to be the game winning goal as Jason Tapp made 31 saves.
Rod Branch made 17 saves in his UHL tying 69th appearance in defeat. One more start for Branch and he will set a new UHL record for most games played by a goaltender in one season. Branch also set a new UHL record tonight when at the 1:16 mark of the first period when he became the top UHL goaltender to play the most minutes in one season with 3,918:16 minutes played.
The Mechanics return home tomorrow to take on the Kalamazoo Wings for the third time in eight days and second time in three days. Face-off is 5:00 PM
