
Mechanics win sixth straight by defeating Flags 2-1

FRASER, MI-The Mechanics knock off the Flags in a shootout by a score of 2-1 tonight at McMorran Arena to win their sixth straight game.
In the first period, Brent Gretzky buried his own rebound to make it a 1-0 Mechanics lead off of the power play goal. Chris Gignac and Peter Szabo tallied the assists.
The Flags tied the game in the second, but neither team would score again in regulation as they would decide the game in the shootout.
Adam Edinger, Brent Gretzky and Chris Gignac all scored for the Mechanics while only one Flag player could put one past Rod Branch.
Branch who made his 63rd appearance (tying a franchise mark set last season) made 27 saves to earn his 35th win of the season.
The Mechanics wrap up the week tomorrow when they face off against the Muskegon Fury at 5:00 PM.
