The Jackals got on the board first at 4:56 of the first period, but Matt Elich responded at the 10:25 mark with a shorthanded goal to even it up for the Vipers. Kory Cooper gave the Jackals the lead back on his own short-handed goal at 16:04 as the two teams played tug-of-war, but Jan Jas would tie it up before the end of the period on an unassisted goal at 18:42.

Alex Jerofejevs scored for the Vipers to give them the lead on a power play goal at 5:12 of the second period. The Jackals scored at 7:03 to make it a 3-3 game. They would start off the third period with three consecutive goals at 2:04, 9:41, and 17:11 to increase the gap between themselves and the Vipers on the scoreboard.
