Danbury Trashers News Release
RICHMOND, VA--Brad Wingfield scored just 25 seconds into the first period as the Danbury Trashers jumped out quickly, then held on for a 3-1 win on Friday night at the Richmond Coliseum.
Wingfield's goal was the only one through the first two periods as the next goal came on Mike Omicioli's third of the season on the power play at the 8:31 mark of the 3rd period. Richmond cut the game to 2-1 as Brian Goudie scored on the power play with 45 seconds left in the game and the RiverDogs utilizing an extra attacker and two Trashers in the box, giving Richmond a 6 on 3 advantage
Richmond coach Robbie Nichols was called for a bench minor for arguing with 30 seconds left. With the penalty, the Trashers were back at even strength and then scored as David Hymovitz beat Doug Groenstege with 10 seconds left in the game. Nichols then had to leave after he was given a 10-minute misconduct.
Sly Daigle stopped 21 of 22 shots as the Trashers even their record to 6-6-2. Richmond falls to 5-9-1 with the loss. Danbury hosts Adirondack on Saturday night at the Danbury Ice Arena starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are available in person at the Danbury Ice Arena or at DanburyTrashers.com.
