
Tovar Homers in Yard Goats Victory

Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Harrisburg, PA- Yard Goats shortstop Ezequiel Tovar, singled, tripled and hit a solo home run, leading Hartford past Harrisburg 4-2 on Saturday evening at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His seventh inning blast to center field was Hartford's franchise record 26th homer in the month of April. After the Senators tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Yard Goats got the go-ahead run home on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Schunk, scoring Brenton Doyle in the top of the eighth.
The Yard Goats have won three of the first five games and have a chance to win their first road series with a victory tomorrow afternoon. Karl Kauffmann hurled six solid innings in his start for Hartford and registered seven strikeouts. Blair Calvo pitched one inning to get the win and improve to 3-0, and Nick Kennedy earned his fourth save. The Yard Goats have hit 15 home runs over the past nine games.
Hartford scored the first run of the game in the third inning as Michael Toglia singled home Tovar from third base making it 1-0. Tovar tripled earlier in the inning and cracked the ball off the centerfield fence. The Senators tied the game in the fourth inning as Jake Alu led off the inning with a solo home run.
The Yard Goats took a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning on Tovar's fifth homer off reliever Francys Peguero. Harrisburg tied the game in the bottom of the seventh as Jack Dunn sacrifice fly scored Justin Connell to make it 2-2. Hartford scored the final two runs of the game on sacrifice flyouts. Aaron Schunk scored Brenton Doyle in the eighth for the eventual game-winning run, and Michael Toglia scored Isaac Collins in the 9th in the victory.
The Yard Goats and Senators will play the finale of the six-game series at 1:00 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field in Harrisburg, PA. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, May 3rd (7:05 PM) against the Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
