Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (13-7) won on a walk-off hit by pitch to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs (10-10) by a score of 3-2 before 6,140 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.
Jeisson Rosario came home for the game-winning run after Saul Torres was hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. It was Somerset's second walk off win in the series.
Andres Chaparro got the bats going in the bottom of the third, driving a ball deep over the left field wall for a two-run home run (4). It was Chaparro's second homer in the past five games.
Pedro Castellanos was the first to cross the plate for the Sea Dogs, scoring on an RBI infield single by Cameron Cannon in the top of the fifth.
After relieving Ken Waldichuk, Steven Jennings was able to get out of the bases loaded jam in the inning, retiring the first two batters he faced.
Portland then tied the game up on a Christian Koss single followed by a throwing error that allowed Elih Marrero to score.
Waldichuk threw 4.1 innings and allowed an unearned run and struck out six hitters in a no decision.
Somerset's bullpen tossed the final 4.2 innings, allowing a run and two strikeouts. Matt Minnick (3-0) earned the win after a scoreless top of the ninth and a strikeout.
Dylan Spacke (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing the go ahead run in the bottom of the ninth.
The 2022 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday, May 1 with a 1:05 pm game against the Sea Dogs at TD Bank Ballpark.
