Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists have come out of the All-Star Break hot. Asheville took care of business against the Winston-Salem Dash on Friday night, then won a pair of games on Sunday afternoon, 6-5 and 7-4, to complete a series sweep.
The first game on Sunday began on Saturday night; however, rain forced a suspension with the Tourists in front 3-1 after three innings. Asheville plated three more quick runs in the fourth inning to build a 6-1 lead. Two of those runs came on a Jacob Melton two-out double to left center.
Winston-Salem used a Grand Slam in the top of the eighth to pull within a run. Carlos Calderon came into the game and the right-hander recorded the final five outs to notch his second save of the year. Miguel Ullola earned the win with 4.1 innings pitched out of the bullpen.
Asheville took a 4-1 lead in the second game with an early RBI hit from Ryan Clifford and a two-run Home Run by Melton. The Dash clawed their way back even at 4-4 but the Tourists quicky responded with an RBI triple from Logan Cerny. Tim Borden II added a Sacrifice Fly and Freddy Guilamo plated a late run with a double to center.
Alex Santos II, Walker Brockhouse, and A.J. Blubaugh combined to cover the seven innings in game two. Melton, Cerny, and Guilamo all had multiple hits in the win.
Asheville will carry their three-game win streak into Greenville on Tuesday night to open a six-game series with the Drive. Game One will begin at 7:05pm ET.
