ROME, GA - It took eighty-four games, but the Rome Braves are walk-off winners in 2023.

The rubber match between the Rome Braves and Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Sunday would see the Rome Braves collect their first walk-off win by a final score of seven runs to six.

Cedric De Grandpre would get the starting nod from Angel Flores, as the rotation resets to the normal starters after working through two rehab assignments. De Grandpre would get into early trouble as Jersey Shore would hang a three spot in the top of the second.

Rome would jump right back in the home half of the second with a RBI triple from Kadon Morton, his first of the season. Adam Zebrowski would knot the game up at three runs each in the home half of the third with his ninth home run of the year.

De Grandpre would call it a day after four and two thirds of an inning, collecting four strikeouts and issuing three walks.

Rome would score in four straight innings to give themselves a five to three lead heading into the top of the ninth before Leandro Pineda would homer to tie the game at five runs each, sending the games to extras.

The Braves and BlueClaws would swap runs in the tenth inning, but a Keshawn Ogans sacrifice fly would score Nacho Alvarez Jr. to give Rome a walk-off winner for the first time in 2023. The win moves Rome to thirty-nine and forty-five, and Jersey Shore drops to forty-two and forty-one.

Rome takes the traditional Monday off as they await the red-hot Hickory Crawdads for a six-game slate at AdventHealth Stadium.
