Tourists All Business in 6-2 Victory

Asheville Tourists News Release
GREENVILLE- By no means was this a perfect game by the Asheville Tourists but the determination and effort Asheville put forth on Friday night was more than enough for a statement win. The Tourists defeated the Drive 6-2 to earn their first victory in the second half.
Asheville was thrown out on the bases five times during the game and committed three errors; however, none of that seemed to matter. The Tourists pounded out 15 hits and the pitchers were locked in all night.
Greenville took a 2-0 lead with a two-run Home Run in the bottom of the third. After that, the Drive were held at bay. Asheville started their scoring with a run in the fourth; Chad Spanberger singled in Ryan Vilade.
The Tourists had to wait out a one-hour five-minute rain delay before they could pick up where they left off. In the fifth, Vilade plated a pair with a triple to right and later scored on a Sean Bouchard single to left.
Tyler Bugner gave the Tourists some insurance with an RBI single in the sixth and Nic Motley's tape-measure Home Run in the top of the ninth capped the scoring output. Asheville's bullpen was forced to pitch six innings due to the rain delay and held Greenville scoreless through all six frames.
Justin Valdespina, Braxton Lorenzini, Tommy Doyle, and Robert Tyler combined to record the final 18 outs. The Tourists bullpen has not allowed a run through nine innings pitched in this series.
Every member of Asheville's offense recorded at least one hit. Vilade finished a Home Run shy of the cycle.
