Asheville Tourists News Release

Hagerstown, MD-- Saturday night in Hagerstown was an uneventful game that resulted in the Asheville Tourists dropping their second straight to the Suns, 7-3. Hagerstown jumped on the Tourists early and Asheville never really had an answer. After falling behind 6-0, the Tourists could not put together a comeback to make things close.

Asheville loaded the bases in the top of the first inning when Jake Johansen walked the bases loaded. The Suns starter was able to work out of the jam unscathed and the Suns took advantage in the bottom of the inning. Hagerstown plated three runs off Tourists starter Konner Wade and forced Wade to throw an excess amount of pitches. Wade was removed from the game after the inning due to his pitch count.

The Suns rallied for three more in the bottom of the third and even though the Tourists continued to put runners aboard against Johansen, they just could not find ways to score. Asheville grounded into three double-plays in the first four innings.

The Tourists finally broke through with a pair of runs in the fifth. Wilfredo Rodriguez brought in a run with an RBI groundout and Zach Osborne scored on a wild pitch. In the sixth, Max White made it 6-3 with a sacrifice fly to center, but the Asheville did not threaten the rest of the way. The Suns put an insurance run on the board in the eighth when Drew Ward singled home Isaac Ballou.

Andrew Brown tossed four innings in his 2014 Asheville Tourists debut while Matt Carasiti added two scoreless innings in relief. Ashley Graeter finished 2-for-3 with a walk and Osborne reached base three times with a single and two walks.

The Tourists will look to salvage a series split on Sunday evening with the game scheduled for 5:05pm.
