Rome, GA - The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Rome Braves in the final game of the four game series on Sunday afternoon by a score of 12-2. Ryan Newell pitched six no hit innings while recording seven strike outs and two walks.
Greensboro got started early in the first with a run scoring double from Austin Dean for the 1-0 lead. The Grasshoppers added runs in the second on an RBI double by Javier Lopez, an RBI single by Dean, and a fielding error that plated Cody Keefer to make the score 4-0. RBI singles by Lopez and Justin Bohn and an RBI sacrifice fly by Felix Munoz in the fourth would give Greensboro four more runs making the score 8-0 and went on to win the game handily 12-2. It was a tough four game series for the Braves being out hit 67-30 and out scored 40-13.
Ryan Newell (4-4) picks up the win, Cody Crabaugh (1) gets his first save, and Daniel Cordero (1-1) gets the loss.
