Tough Night at the Yard, Rome Falls 20-3

Rome, GA - Rome fell to Savannah Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium 20-3 before a crowd of 1,773. The Sand Gnats banged out 24 hits en route to the win.

Savannah struck early and big scoring eight times in the second inning. JC Rodriguez, Tyler Moore, Patrick Biondi, Luis Guillorme, and Wuilmer Becerra had RBI singles, Jonathan Johnson added a run scoring double, and Michael Katz had a sacrifice fly RBI giving the Sand Gnats an 8-0 lead. Savannah added four more runs in the third and three runs in the fourth before Rome was able to crack the scoreboard. The Braves' first run of the night came in the sixth on Connor Oliver's run scoring triple making it a 15-1 score. The Sand Gnats went on to win the lopsided affair 20-3. Everyone in the Savannah lineup had at least one hit with Biondi going 5-7 with six RBI.

Corey Oswalt (8-4) gets the victory going five shutout innings scattering five hits while Rome starter Zach Quintana (2-4) is charged with the loss pitching just 1.1 innings allowing eight earned runs on seven hits.
