Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, AK - Ryan Walter's third period goal was the difference in a hard-fought Friday night game at the Sullivan Arena as the Utah Grizzlies edged the Alaska Aces 2-1.

After a scoreless first period, Utah opened the scoring with a power play goal by Alex Krushelnyski, his 14th goal of the season. Krushelnyski directed a pass from Connor Hardowa past Aces goaltender Troy Redmann at 15:48.

Alaska answered with its own power play tally as Tim Coffman one-timed a shot through Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher off a pass from Gleason Fournier. Coffman's 9th goal of the season came with just 57 seconds left in the second period.

Walters was able to chip in the winner at 11:51 of the third period. After Fournier broke his stick on an attempted shot from the blue line, Krushelnyski took off with the puck on a 3 on 1 rush into the Alaska zone, William Wrenn defending. Wrenn and Redmann combined to stop Krushelnyski's shot attempt, but Walters was left open to pop in the rebound for the winner. A frantic Aces push for the tying goal in the closing minutes was not rewarded.

Redmann finished with 28 saves for Alaska...Faragher stopped 28 shots for Utah.

The two teams will complete their three game series Saturday night at 7:15 pm AST at the Sullivan Arena.
