Head-To-Head - The Allen Americans dropped a 2-1 decision to the Quad City Mallards in Allen on opening night. This will be the final regular season matchup between the former division rivals.
Leading the Way - Chad Costello has an eight point lead over second place in the ECHL scoring race. The defending champion has 43 points in 32 games.
Riley all the way - With Joel Rumpel on the shelf with an injury, it's been all Riley Gill who has started the last ten games in a row for Allen (4-5-1). Nolan Bowker, a former junior league goalie in Canada who serves as the teams Equipment Manager, has been the backup goalie for Allen during Rumpel's injury.
Road Streak Ended - The Americans saw their three game road winning streak snapped yesterday in Missouri. The Americans have a chance to close out the four game trip with a winning record if they beat Quad City tonight.
Top Flight Rookie - Eric Roy leads all rookie defensemen in points with 21. He's sixth overall in points scored by a blueliner and tied for fifth in league with five game-winning goals.
Quad City Mallards Notes - The Mallards are 4-6-0 in their last ten games and 1-3-0 in their last four home games. Quad City is led by forward Olivier Archambault who has 27 points in 25 games. Former Americans forward Tanner Eberle who has spent time in the American Hockey League this season has ten points in 20 games (6 goals & 4 assists)
Around The ECHL - There are 14 games in the ECHL tonight with everyone in action. A big matchup out west tonight with the Idaho Steelheads facing the Colorado Eagles with both teams red hot over their last ten games. One point separates second and third place with both chasing the top team in the West Division the Utah Grizzlies.
