Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals took on the Sudbury Wolves tonight in Sudbury for the first time since their meeting at the beginning of the season at the GM Centre. The Generals had another big win tonight, defeating the Wolves 7-2 and earning another two points. The Generals have won 11 of their last 12 games and it is an exciting time to be a Generals fan.

The first period was rather uneventful on all fronts. It took almost five minutes for any shots on net to happen. Despite the slow start, the Generals had a ton of shots on net during the period but Wolves goaltender, Troy Timpano made an outstanding effort to stop the Generals chances. The only penalty of the period was awarded to Templeton for tripping, but the Generals killed it off with no problems. Jeremy Brodeur had his fifth start of the season tonight and had a great game goaltending for the Generals. Aidan Wallace opened the scoring for the Generals at 17:31, assisted by Latour and Smith. The Generals outshot the Wolves 16-6 in the first period.

Although the first period wasn't didn't see too much action, the second period was an extreme change of pace. The Generals put up five goals in the period, an impressive period to say the least. Mitchell Vande Sompel scored at 9:33, assisted by Carlisle and Lindberg. Michael Turner took a puck to the neck and left the ice with the paramedics. After returning to the Generals bench, Turner scored on his first shift back, assisted by Latour and Lindberg at 13:44. Less than a minute later, Sonny Hertzberg scored his first OHL goal, assisted by Vande Sompel and Lindberg. Nearing the end of the period at 17:24, Mayo left the ice on a delay of game call and the Generals capitalized on the opportunity. Lindberg put another past Timpano at 18:37, assisted by Dal Colle and Vande Sompel. But the Generals weren't done there. Aidan Wallace scored his second of the game with only 11 seconds remaining in the period, this time assisted by Latour and Wallace. The period ended with the Generals up 6-0 and outshooting the Wolves 22-9.

The third period confirmed the Generals domination over the Wolves. Only 44 seconds into the period, Brown and Heffernan dropped the gloves to get the period off to a heated start. Although the Wolves scored the first goal of the period - Desrochers at 5:09, the Generals Desrocher returned the goal at 7:43, another power play goal as Milne was sitting for slashing. With the Generals leading 7-1, the Wolves put one more in the net, scored by Schmalz, but it would be their last of the night. The Generals outshot the Wolves 15-9 and once again demonstrated why they are first place in the Eastern Conference and ranked number one in the CHL Rankings. The final score was 7-2 with the Generals outshooting the Wolves 53-24.

The Generals are back on home ice this Sunday. Don't forget to wear your ugly Christmas sweaters when the Generals take on the Erie Otters at 6:05 P.M, in support of Children's Wish Foundation. See you then!
