Ottawa 67's News Release
The Ottawa 67's got back to their winning ways at home on Friday night at TD Place, downing the Niagara Ice Dogs 4-2.
The victory was Ottawa's 10th on home ice this season in 12 starts. Last year, the 67's won a total of 12 games when the team hosted games in Kanata at Canadian Tire Centre.
After allowing the IceDogs an early advantage on a goal by Brendan Perlini, the 67's rallied with markers from Jacob Middleton, Dante Salituro and Travis Konecny to take a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
Dylan McDonald scored early in the second for the 67's, who received strong goaltending from rookie Leo Lazarev.
Lazarev, a Russian who played Junior A last season in Waterloo, stopped Josh Ho-Sang on a penalty shot later in the middle period to preserve Ottawa's three-goal advantage.
The 67's outshot the IceDogs 30-24 and improved the team's season record to 13-11-1-1.
The next home game is Sunday (2 p.m. face-off) at TD Place against Dale Hawerchuk's Barrie Colts.
