Daytona Tortugas News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - The Daytona Tortugas' scheduled game on Friday evening against the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium has been suspended due to inclement weather.
The contest will resume at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday evening with the contest tied at one in the bottom of the third inning. Lakeland will start with a runner at third and one out and a 1-0 count on SS Cole Peterson. After the suspended game is concluded - playing nine full frames - there will be a seven-inning nightcap for Saturday's scheduled contest. The second game will start roughly 35 minutes after the suspended affair is wrapped up.
Daytona scored on Friday via an RBI single from LF Drew Mount (1-1, RBI) in the top of the second. Lakeland tied it in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch before the hour and 27-minute delay began.
RHP Wendolyn Bautista (2-3, 4.18 ERA) is scheduled to go for Daytona in the seven-inning affair on Saturday night. Lakeland is slated to counter with Detroit's No. 25 prospect according to Baseball America, RHP Elvin RodrÃguez (9-4, 3.34 ERA).
The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 4:45 p.m. ET, leading up to the 5:00 p.m. ET start at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. Saturday evening's games can be heard on www.daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.
Following the lengthy road trip, the Tortugas will return to The Jack to open up a three-contest set against the St. Lucie Mets, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, on Friday, August 2. Daytona continues its Best Dressed Friday series, as players and coaches will don special uniforms in honor of the 25th anniversary of comedy classic, "Dumb and Dumber". Those jerseys will be auctioned off online throughout the weekend. It will be another Friday Night Happy Hour presented by Kona Brewing with buy-one, get-one Kona beer products and Bud Light from 5:30 p.m. until first pitch. Finally, after the game, fans will be treated to another splendid Postgame Fireworks display.
Multi-game plans and single-game tickets are still currently available and can be purchased online at www.daytonatortugas.com, or by calling the Tortugas' Ticket Office at (386) 257-3172.
