Helman Delivers Key Late Hit In 6-5 Win

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Michael Helman delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning and the Miracle held on to take the series opener over the Florida Fire Frogs, 6-5, on Friday night at Osceola County Stadium.
Helman's clutch hit came immediately after Trey Cabbage reached on a two-base fielding error by Florida first baseman CJ Alexander.
The Fire Frogs opened the scoring with two runs in the second off Miracle starter Blayne Enlow. Garrison Schwartz delivered an RBI single and Brett Langhorne had a sacrifice fly.
Fort Myers responded right away with four runs in the top of the fourth, all coming with two out. Ryan Jeffers and Ryan Costello each came through with RBI singles. Andrew Bechtold provided the big blow with a two-run double.
Langhorne brought Florida back within a run with another sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. The Miracle made it 5-3 in the fifth when Royce Lewis scored on a wild pitch. Lewis finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Florida tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.
Enlow was charged with four earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out one. Johan Quezada (5-1) earned the win with two shutout innings in relief. He allowed one hit and struck out three. Joe Record also threw two scoreless innings to pick up his second save. He walked one and struck out two.
All nine Miracle starters recorded at least one hit in the contest. Fort Myers went 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position and out-hit Florida, 12-8.
Game two of the three-game series is Saturday night at Osceola County Stadium. Left-hander Lachlan Wells will start for the Miracle. First pitch is 6:00 p.m. ET.
