December 9, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, by a score of 3-2 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
After a scoreless first period, Max Reinhart tallied his second goal of the season at the three minute mark of the middle frame to give Abbotsford a 1-0 lead. Just over six minutes later, Ben Street extended the Heat lead with his sixth goal of the year. Trailing by two goals heading into the final period, Greg McKegg cut the lead in half at 4:15. The goal sparked Toronto's annual Teddy Bear Toss. Brad Ross' first career professional goal would tie the game with seven minutes left on the clock. Abbotsford's leading goal scorer, Roman Horak, capitalized on a powerplay opportunity late in the game to secure the win for the Heat.
Toronto will travel to Rochester on Saturday to play the Amerks for the fourth time in six games. The Marlies have posted a record of 4-0 against the Amerks so far this season. Toronto returns home on Sunday when they will play the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
