Albany Devils News Release

HARTFORD, CT -- Joe Whitney's second period tally was all the Albany Devils needed to earn their third consecutive victory. Keith Kinkaid stopped all 30 shots as the Devils defeated the Connecticut Whale, 1-0, Sunday at XL Center.

The win moves the Devils to 7-8-0-5, while the Whale go to 10-11-0-2.

Kinkaid, who came within 2:07 of a shutout Saturday against Bridgeport, was perfect in his second shutout of the season and fifth of his two-year career. He made 12 stops in the first, six in the second and 12 in the third to improve to 4-5-3.

Offensively, Whitney registered his third goal in as many games and his fourth of the season. He now has nine points (4g-5a) in the last 12 contests. Bobby Butler extended his scoring streak to three games (1g-2a), assisting on the play.

The goal came at 6:48 when Whitney and Butler worked a 2-on-1. Whitney looked off a defender and then sent a wrister far side from the left face-off dot.

Connecticut's Cam Talbot made 26 saves on 27 shots.

Albany returns to Times Union Center Wednesday for a 7 pm contest against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
