
Tornadoes drop final game to Cutters

Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA- With the largest crowd of the season, 3365, the Tornadoes fell 4-3 to the New Haven County Cutters during an afternoon game at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
The Cutters scored three runs in the first inning as Horace Lawrence, Derrick Gibson and Jeremy Terni each had an RBI. They had four stolen bases in the first inning. The Tornadoes came back and put a run on the board in the bottom of the first as Ricardo Cordova hit a solo home run to right field.
In the fifth, DJ Mattox and Onix Mercado got tangled up with a pop up ball and Jose Delgado reached base on an error. On the next batter, Mattox made an error on the throw and Marcus Nettles was able to score to put the Cutters up 4-1.
Cordova had his second RBI of the game in the sixth when Lucas Taylor who reached base on a single scored. In the eighth, Taylor stole third base on the front end of a double steal and then came home to score on an error by the catcher to put the Tornadoes within one run.
The Tornadoes attempted a comeback in the ninth inning when Miles Page and Austin Wasserman both drew walks. Keith Beauregard hit a long ball back to the warning track but it fell just shy of a home run to end the game.
Cutters Marcus Nettles had a season high 5 stolen bases. The winning pitcher Justin Knoff and DJ Mattox picked up the loss.

The Tornadoes will begin a four game series against the New Jersey Jackals tomorrow at 7:05 PM. Tomorrow night is Firefighter Night at the park.
