Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA- It was Scout Night at Hanover Insurance Park tonight and the Tornadoes came prepared as they won 4-3 over the Brockton Rox in front of a sellout crowd.
While the Rox put a run on the board in the first inning, the Tornadoes were able to answer back right away with an RBI single from Keith Beauregard that scored Brian Rios who had reached base on a double.
The Tornadoes didn't stop there--they added another three runs in the second to go ahead for the first time in this series against the Rox. It started off with a double by Patrick Perry who scored on a single by Lucas Taylor. Ricardo Cordova followed up with an RBI that scored Taylor, who had stolen second. Rios singled to drive in Josh Beauregard to put the Tornadoes up 4-1.
Guye Senjem continued to be a threat tonight as he hit another home run to lead off the sixth inning for the Rox and bring them within two. The Rox then pulled within one in the eighth when Francisco Lebron hit an RBI single that scored Keith Brachold who had also reached base on a single. But that would be all the damage the Rox could do against the Tornadoes.
Both starting pitchers went six innings, Alex Pena picked up the win as he gave up five hits, two runs (both earned) and recorded six strikeouts while Brad Guy took the loss as he gave up nine hits, four runs (all earned) and three strikeouts. Dallas Mahan picked up the save.
Looking for a whale of a good time tomorrow, head on out to catch the Tornadoes final game of the home stand against the Brockton Roux at 2:05 PM for Beach Day courtesy of the Telegram & Gazette. Tornadoes Greg Montalbano will take on Rox John Kelly.
