New Haven County Cutters News Release
WEST HAVEN, CT - The Quebec Capitales (16-10, 32-37) scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings turn a 4-4 game into an 8-4 advantage and go on to defeat the New Haven County Cutters (14-11, 39-31) 9-4, Saturday night, in the second of a three-game series at Historic Yale Field. The loss ends the Cutters 11-game home winning streak.
With the game tied in the fourth, second baseman Dany Scalabrini delivered a two-run single to put the Caps ahead 6-4 and catcher Olivier Lepine made it an 8-4 contest an inning later with a two-run home run (7).
Designated hitter Derrick Gibson kept the Cutters in the ballgame early on as he connected for a first inning solo home run and then, following a run scoring wild pitch, launched a tremendous two-run homer in the third (8,9) to pull the Cutters even, 4-4.
Overall, Gibson went 3-for-3 and centerfielder Marcus Nettles went 4-for-5 with a double and a stolen base.
