
'Topes blow out Sounds, 12-4

Albuquerque scored four runs in the first inning en route to a 12-4 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday afternoon. Matt Treanor went 3x3 with three RBI and broke an Isotopes record by reaching base in nine consecutive trips to the plate as part of a 13-hit afternoon for the âTopes.
Chris Aguila got the ball rolling for the Isotopes in the first, driving in two runs with a two-out single. Drew Niles walked and Treanor followed with a two-run single of his own for a 4-0 lead. The lead grew to 7-0 in the third with a Nashville error, Niles RBI triple, and a RBI single by pitcher Mike Nannini. Nannini (1-0) was the beneficial of the run support, earning the first win by an Isotopes starter this season. He allowed two runs on four hits in five plus innings.
Nashville got on the board in the six as J.R. House hit a grand slam off newcomer Peter Hartmann, cutting the lead to 8-4. Albuquerque added four runs in the ninth for the final 12-4 margin.
The Isotopes (8-6) have now taken the first two games of the four-game series at Nashville (4-9) and have won three in a row on the road. The two teams play game three of four tomorrow night, beginning at 6:00. Michael Tejera will make his third start.
