PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers and Zenner's Sausages are teaming up to present "Dollar Dog Nights" this season at every Wednesday home game at PGE Park as part of a newly formed marketing partnership.
The first of seven installments of the popular promotion, which features $1.00 Zenner's hot dogs, is tonight at PGE Park when the Beavers take on the Tucson Sidewinders at 7:05 p.m.
The promotion is just one of a number of components to the new marketing partnership between the Beavers, Portland Timbers and Zenner's, which is the "Official Hot Dog and Sausage" for PGE Park, the home venue for both teams.
This season, PGE Park will be featuring a host of Zenner's favorites, including all-meat franks as well as Zenner's Beef Franks, Polish Sausage and Double-Smoked Sausage.
Additionally, Zenner's is the official sponsor of Beavers baseball camps and co-sponsor of the Zenner's/Padres Little League Weekend, to be held June 19-20 at PGE Park.
"Our relationship with PGE Park is just beginning," said Jerome Faulkner, Zenner's operations manager. "We are looking forward to years of great sports and great hot dogs at this outstanding facility."
Zenner's, a Portland-based, family-owned-and-operated company founded in 1927 by George Zenner, Sr., is headquartered just blocks away from PGE Park and features a number of acclaimed products. Although best known for hot dogs, Zenner's is equally renowned for its international sausages, including bratwurst, kielbasa, andouille, linguisa, Italian sausages and British bangers.
Catering to contemporary trends, Zenner's also features a variety of specialty products such as Louisiana Red Hots in addition to a number of more traditional smoked products.
"When you get right down to it, a great hot dog is an important part of any baseball or soccer game," said Jack Cain, president of the Beavers and Timbers. "Baseball and soccer teams rely on community support, and our relationship with Zenner's reflects our continued commitment to partnering with local businesses."
PGE Park, a 20,000-seat stadium located in the heart of Portland, Ore., is home to the Beavers, a member of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, and the Timbers, a member of professional soccer's A-League.
The stadium underwent a $38.5 million renovation prior to the 2001 season of events and is also the home of Portland State University football as well as a host of nationally and internationally recognized sporting events, including the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup.
