Tonight's Suns Game Postponed
May 10, 2003 - Southern League (SL1)
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. â The Jacksonville Suns game vs. the Orlando Rays, scheduled for tonight at 7:05 p.m. has been cancelled due to problems with the team bus returning from Birmingham, Ala.
The Suns team bus experienced major mechanical problems 30 miles south of Birmingham as the team was on their way back to Jacksonville after a four-game series with the Barons. The team was stranded for over 12 hours and was unable to resume their trip until noon today.
"This is obviously a very unfortunate situation for everyone," Suns General Manager Peter Bragan, Jr. said. "We had a lot of people planning on coming to the game tonight, but this is something that none of us could control. We looked at a lot of different ways to get the boys back to town to play tonight, but we weren't able to find anything that would allow us to play.
The Suns and Rays will play a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 p.m. consisting of two seven inning games. For Mother's Day, the Suns will be giving away visors to the first 1,000 moms through the gates, sponsored by Kuhn Flowers and AM 930 The Fox.
Anyone who purchased a single-game ticket for tonight's game may contact the Suns office to exchange their ticket for another game. All efforts will be made by the Suns front office to accommodate for inconveniences experienced because of the cancellation.
