Huntsville, Ala. - Bucky Jacobsen singled home the winning run against his former teammates in the top of the ninth inning as Tennessee (22-13) opened a four game series at Huntsville (21-13) with a 2-0 shutout.

Jacobsen, who played portions of the last four seasons in Huntsville, hit a bloop single to right-center to plate Dan Moylan from second base. Moylan opened the ninth with a bunt single and moved to second on a throwing error by pitcher Ryan Miller (0-2). Jacobsen scored an insurance run two batters later on a fielder's choice by Papo Bolivar.

Smokies starter Nick Stocks tossed seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Stocks allowed only two hits and retired the final nine batters he faced. Juan Figueroa (3-0) worked his way out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth to earn the win.

Closer Mike Lyons earned his 12th save in thirteen tries by working around a lead off walk and pitching a scoreless ninth.

Huntsville's Mike Jones allowed only two hits over 8 innings before handing off to Miller.

The series continues Sunday afternoon with a 2:05 EDT start at Joe Davis Stadium. Jeremy Cummings (4-2, 3.34) starts for the Smokies opposite Ben Hendrickson (1-1, 6.00).

Roster move: INF John Gall, who won the series finale against Greenville with a walk-off home run in the 13th inning Friday night, was promoted to AAA Memphis. The Smokies added RHP Josh Axelson from Palm Beach.
