Toledo Walleye Unveil 2009-10 Promotional Schedule

(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce the team's promotional schedule for their 2009-10 inaugural season. The Walleye will open their season at the new Lucas County Arena on Friday, Oct. 16 vs. the Florida Everblades, ending a two-year hiatus of professional hockey in Toledo.

Opening Weekend

The festivities begin with a three-game Opening Weekend celebration with magnet schedule giveaways on each night. The ECHL's Riley Cup will be on display on Friday, Oct. 16 and Walleye lanyards will be given away upon entrance. The Walleye's Opening Weekend continues with games vs. the Everblades on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday, Oct. 17 game will include a tribute to the history of Toledo hockey and will feature the unveiling of historic Championship Banners. The Sunday, Oct. 18th game is the first of nine home Sunday contests on the season, all of which include Kids Design-a-Sign night and a post-game open skate at the Arena.

Holiday Promotions

Among the Holiday promotions this season include "Halloween Hockey Night" (wear a costume) on Saturday, Oct. 24; "Turkey Leftovers Night" (food drive) on Friday, Nov. 27; "Ugly Holiday Sweater Night" on Sunday, Dec. 27; "New Years Day, Resolution Night," featuring a calendar giveaway to the first 5,000 fans on Friday, Jan. 1; "Valentine's Night" (Stick it to love! - includes post-game Open Skate & Date for singles) on Friday, Feb. 12.

November Promotions

The month of November features a 10:30 a.m. contest on Wednesday, Nov. 4 for School Celebration Day. Prior to the Saturday, Nov. 7 game is one of the most beloved promotions of the year -- Team Autograph Day! The entire Walleye roster will be signing autographs prior to the contest vs. the Cincinnati Cyclones. Following a long road trip, the team returns home on Friday, Nov. 20 with "Rivalry Night" (wear your team's colors: Ohio State/Michigan). The month concludes the following weekend with three games with promotions including a pre-game Youth Hockey Clinic on Saturday, Nov. 28.

December Promotions

The Walleye are home for eight games in December, including Toledo, Spain Night (Noche de Espana) on Friday, Dec. 4. The Walleye host the Kalamazoo Wings the following night for the second consecutive game featuring another pre-game Youth Hockey Clinic and "Cowbells n' Country Night," which includes a cowbell giveaway to 3,000 fans. Saturday, Dec. 12 is the first ever Scout Sleepover at the new arena, the first of three this season (January 9, March 6). Another great promotion will allow fans to take post-game photos with the Walleye players on Sunday, Dec. 13.

January Promotions

January promotions include "A Tribute to the King" (Happy Birthday, Elvis) on Friday the 8th; Mascot Mania Night on Sunday the 10th; a SpongeBob SquarePants appearance on Sunday the 17th; "Windy City Night" (All Things Chicago) on Friday the 22nd; and "Prom Night" featuring a Tuxedo Jersey Auction on Saturday the 23rd.

February Promotions

Saturday, Feb. 13 will be Physicians & Dentists Night at the arena while Saturday, Feb. 27 will be "Detroit Red Wings" Night.

March Promotions

A Pink Jersey Auction is scheduled as part of Komen Night (Pink in the Rink) on Friday, March 5. "Bullfrog Night" is Sunday, March 7 in anticipation of Toledo's new arena football team, who will open their inaugural season in March, 2010. The home portion of the regular season schedule concludes with Fan Appreciation Weekend on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28, with the 27th also being Mud Hens Night; Opening Day, 2010 is Thursday, April 8.

**A limited number of individual tickets for Opening Night (Friday, October 16th) will be placed on sale in the near future. The only way to guarantee an Opening Night ticket is either a buffet bash ticket or a season ticket package (full season or half-season).

The Lucas County Arena will be holding a FREE open house on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th from 12-4 each day. The Walleye will skate for the first time at the arena for practice from 1-4 pm on Sunday, October 4.
