TOLEDO, Ohio -- Third baseman Jack Hannahan roped a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to break a tie game and help Toledo defeat Indianapolis, 4-3, Monday evening at Fifth Third Field.

The Mud Hens improve to 46-38, while the Indians fall to 44-38. Toledo now leads Indianapolis by one game in the International League's West Division.

Hannahan's base knock brought SS Don Kelly and 2B Ryan Rayburn, and gave the Mud Hens a 3-1 advantage.

Toledo 1B Josh Phelps added an insurance run in the eighth, blasting his 11th homer of the season -- a solo shot to left field.

The Indians plated a run in the ninth on 3B Yurendell de Caster's sacrifice fly and put the potential tying run in scoring position, but could not get over the hump.

Toledo RHP Humberto Sanchez (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) picked up the win, improving to 5-1. RHP Chris Spurling (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB) recorded his fourth save of the campaign.

Indianapolis LHP Mike Connolly (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) was pinned with the loss, falling to 1-2.

The Mud Hens cracked the scoreboard in the first when DH David Espinosa and Kelly singled before Rayburn plated Espinosa with a ground out.

Indianapolis evened the game on de Caster's sixth home run of the campaign -- a solo shot to left field.

The Tribe added another run in the seventh on C Carlos Maldonado's RBI single.

Indians 1B Chris Richard recorded two hits in the contest, extending his on-base streak to 43 games and hitting streak to 12. De Caster finished with two hits and two RBI.

Kelly and LF Tike Redman had two base knocks apiece for the home team.

Indianapolis returns to Victory Field for 14 straight home games, beginning with Tuesday night's Independence Day showdown vs. Columbus at 6 p.m. RHP Marty McLeary is scheduled to start for the Indians, while the Clippers are expected to counter with LHP Tommy Phelps.

The game will be televised by WHMB TV-40 as Howard Kellman and Mark Boyle call all the action. The contest will also be carried by ESPN 950-AM and IndyIndians.com with Scott McCauley behind the microphone.

At the close of business Monday, a limited number of lawn tickets were still available for Tuesday night's Fourth of July tilt. Fans will be invited to stick around after the game for two fireworks spectaculars -- one by the Indians and one by the City of Indianapolis.
