TOLEDO, Ohio -- Left fielder Max Leon lined a game-winning RBI single to right field in the bottom of the tenth inning and the Toledo Mud Hens snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Indianapolis Indians with a 3-2 walk-off win over the Tribe on Thursday night at Fifth Third Field.

Following the loss, Indianapolis' record falls to 63-63 on the season, while, with the victory, Toledo improves to 58-67 on the year. The loss snaps the Tribe's seven-game winning streak against the Mud Hens and evens the season series at 9-9 with three games remaining between the two teams this season.

With the contest tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the tenth inning, Leon stepped to the dish with the bases loaded and one out in the frame. After falling into an early 0-2 hole, the left fielder worked the count even before he laced a base knock to right field to plate 2B Justin Henry and give the Mud Hens the 3-2 win. Henry opened the frame with a lead-off double and later moved to third when SS Scott Sizemore collected an infield single after 3B Shawn Roof walked with one out.

Before Leon's extra-inning heroics, Brian Friday jump-started the Indians' offensive attack in the third inning when the second baseman stole home with two outs in the frame to give the Tribe an early 1-0 lead. Friday's successful theft of home was made possible when the infielder grounded into a force out to reach base with one out, stole second and then later moved to third on a ground out to shortstop.

Indianapolis' lead was short-lived, however, as Toledo promptly tied the score at 1-1 in the home half of the third inning. C Max St. Pierre deposited the first pitch of the frame out to deep left field for his third home run of the season to erase the Mud Hens' one-run deficit.

The contest remained tied until 1B John Bowker lined a two-out, run-scoring double to deep center field to give the Tribe a 2-1 advantage in the sixth inning. The double plated CF Alex Presley, who opened the frame with a single to right field and later stole second before touching home on Bowker's sixth two-bagger of the year.

Toledo erased its second one-run deficit of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning when DH Casper Wells came through with a two-out RBI double of his own to even the score at 2-2. With Sizemore standing at second base after a lead-off double, Wells lined the sixth pitch of his plate appearance out to left field to drive home the game-tying run.

Neither starter figured in the contest's final decision, as Indians' RHP Mike Crotta (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings of work, while Mud Hens' LHP Andy Oliver (7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO) put up a near identical line, allowing two runs on five hits in seven strong frames.

Tribe reliever Brian Bass (0.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB) was strapped with his fourth loss of the season after allowing a run in the 10th inning, while Mud Hens' RHP Casey Fien (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 SO) earned his second win of the year after working a scoreless inning in relief.

Offensively, two Tribe batters - RF Brandon Moss (2-for-5) and C Jason Jaramillo (2-for-4) - recorded multiple base hits in the contest, while three Mud Hens hitters - Sizemore (2-for-5, 1 R, 1 2B), Leon (2-for-2, 1 3B, 1 RBI) and CF Ben Guez (2-for-4) - chipped in with two hits on the evening.

Indianapolis concludes its three-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens on Friday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. RHP Jeremy Powell is expected to get the nod for the Tribe, while RHP L.J. Gagnier is the probable starter for the Mud Hens.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.

Post-game quotes -- INF Brian Friday

(on his steal of home in the top of the third inning)

"I've never stolen home before, but I've always wanted to do it. After the first pitch (of RF Brandon Moss' at-bat in the third inning) Frank (Indians' manager Frank Kremblas) asked me if I wanted to steal home. He was trying to talk me through it and then he just told me to go. It was exciting and a lot of fun."
