Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Cleveland, Ohio - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Lake Erie Monsters 2-0 on Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena. Dustin Tokarski stopped all 31 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season and first as a 'Dog.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 7:26 of the opening frame on a tally by Greg Pateryn who snapped a shot from the right point and the puck sailed by a plethora of bodies in front of the net and over the glove of Lake Erie Monsters starting goaltender Calvin Pickard. The 'Dogs doubled their lead at 18:55 of the first period as Michael Bournival finished off a pretty passing play after a power play had just expired. The Bulldogs outshot the Monsters 10-6 after 20 minutes of play.
The second period was scoreless but Hamilton outshot Lake Erie for the second-straight period by a count of 12-11 for a total lead of 22-17 after 40 minutes.
The third stanza was also scoreless and the Bulldogs finished the game with a 2-0 victory. The 'Dogs have now won seven of their last 10 games and improve to 13-0 when leading after two periods of play. Tokarski has stopped 139 of 146 shots in his five games as a Bulldog for a save percentage of .952.
The Bulldogs' next game is against the Abbotsford Heat at Copps Coliseum on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
